The Opportunity
C Miller Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for commercial, hospitality, tenant improvement, and renovation projects.
This role is ideal for an estimator who understands the complexity of renovation work, can read plans and specifications closely, identify scope gaps, compare subcontractor bids, and support a clean handoff from estimating to operations.
You will work closely with company leadership, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to help build detailed estimates that support both successful bids and profitable project execution.
How You Will Make an Impact
Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial renovation, hospitality, tenant improvement, and general construction projects.
Review plans, specifications, drawings, site information, and project documents to build complete scopes of work.
Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions.
Solicit, review, compare, and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
Identify missing scope, exclusions, unclear assumptions, pricing risks, and potential cost impacts before bid submission.
Support bid strategy, value engineering, and pricing recommendations.
Partner with leadership and project managers to align estimates with schedule, project goals, and profitability targets.
Track historical pricing, market trends, subcontractor pricing, and project costs to improve future estimate accuracy.
Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Assist with bid packages, proposal preparation, clarifications, and post-award handoff to operations.
Communicate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and scope details clearly to internal teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
5 years of experience estimating commercial construction, renovation, tenant improvement, or general construction projects.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Proven experience preparing accurate takeoffs, detailed estimates, and bid packages.
Ability to compare subcontractor bids and identify missing scope, exclusions, or pricing inconsistencies.
Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, subcontractor scopes, and project sequencing.
Experience with renovation-related challenges such as existing conditions, phasing, access limitations, occupied spaces, and schedule constraints.
Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through.
Ability to communicate clearly with leadership, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and construction technology tools.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Experience estimating hospitality renovation projects such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, clubhouses, amenity spaces, or similar environments.
Experience with commercial renovation or tenant improvement projects in Florida or similar markets.
Background working with general contractors, commercial renovation firms, or design-build teams.
Familiarity with value engineering, budget forecasting, and project cost tracking.
Experience supporting estimating-to-operations handoff after project award.
