BAKERY FRYER / BAKER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Starts shift by turning on equipment, removes doughnuts, breads or other products and supplies from cooler, puts doughnuts on screens, breads in loaf pans then into proofing box for rising. While doughnuts, breads or other products are rising, he or she will scoop doughnut mix, cake mix or other mixes into mixer, add water and other necessary ingredients, mixes, forms to prepare other products. Will crank doughnut cutter to make doughnuts. Operates doughnut fryer, he or she lowers screens of doughnuts one at a time. May glaze, ice or decorate doughnuts. Baker will remove breads or other products as cake, cookies, puff pastries, sweet dough and danish from proofer and put into oven for baking. After baked will remove from oven, let cool, then cut and bag or string ice and package. Fryer or baker will then do break-out requiring employee to go into freezer to remove products and prepare for next day's use. Will wash utensils and clean-up work area as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Use hand, arms, and fingers to handle tools or operate power equipment.
- Work in a standing position from 4-8 hours a day.
- Lift and handle ingredient bags and products.
- Use basic math to measure and estimate material quantities.
- Arrange, shape and prepare products for fryer or oven.
- Bake or fry products to required specifications.
- Decorate products as needed.
- Break-out product according to production schedule.
- Keep workstation clean and sanitary.
DESIRED, NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Slice, wrap, weigh and price products as required.
- Stock display shelves or cases.
- Take customer orders.
- Receive money and make change.
