Purpose
To ensure all machinery and equipment is kept in good operating condition, developing and performing all preventative maintenance according to schedule, and communicating equipment needs and conditions on a regular basis to ensure operations is kept at optimal performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safe maintenance, installation, and repair of a variety of complex Heavy equipment and farming equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
- Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance/install of company or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
- Assist in the training of lower-level technicians as needed
- Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner daily.
- Pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts to job sites.
- Other duties assigned as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Perform all essential duties.
- Demonstrate advanced diagnostic and repair skills on multiple types of equipment including compressor packages, gas process and power generation equipment used within the region.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) to standard with no help.
- Perform compressor calculations.
- Demonstrate customer service skills.
- Read, write and speak English (work orders, manuals, etc.)
- Model all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Use computer skills, including vendor specific programs (Cat, Waukesha, Ariel, Murphy, etc.), Internet Explorer and Outlook.
- Regularly complete and submit company required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Working in the field.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Gas or diesel engine and compressor school / training preferred.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- 5 years of experience working in the field (not a shop) as a Field Mechanic, Field Service Technician, or in a similar role.
- 5 years of experience repairing/maintaining Heavy equipment and tools.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools, engines, farming equipment, and electrical knowledge.
- Strong mechanical background knowledge of various diesel and gas engines
- Must own tools applicable to position
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
- Respond to after-hours request regularly on an on-call basis.
Preferred Experience:
- Hydraulics and Electrical (220v and 480 wiring/circuits).
- Heavy equipment – CAT, Volvo, XCMG, Light Duty Vehicles, and Tractor Equipment – John Deere, Case, farming equipment.
- DOT experience with Semi Trucks and Trailers.
