Responsibilities
- Safely operate trucks with manual transmissions, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles.
- Load and unload freight accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Drive assigned routes confidently while adhering to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle condition for compliance purposes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
- Assist with forklift operation when necessary for loading or unloading cargo in warehouse environments.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver roles with route driving responsibilities.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and familiarity with various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload processes.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment like forklifts safely when required.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Physical ability to handle cargo loading tasks and perform vehicle inspections regularly.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients effectively.
