Plans, organizes, and controls all resources (people and materials) for the successful execution of a project. Leads project teams in the construction of projects ensuring project quality, schedule, cost control, safety and customer satisfaction objectives are met. Is the primary point of contact for Owners.

This role also carries special responsibility for overseeing the Company’s self-perform drywall operations. The Drywall PM is accountable for planning and directing drywall crews, managing specialty subcontractors, and ensuring accurate estimating, staffing, and execution of drywall scopes. The position emphasizes stabilizing field workforce needs, reducing volatility in drywall staffing, and leveraging industry relationships to maintain consistent utilization of drywall crews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set safety, quality, schedule, cost, and owner relationshipgoals

  • Provide input and supervise all pre-construction services such as purchase orders,subcontracts, schedules, job cost set-up and projectpre-planning

  • Work with the Managing Director to obtain the personnel resources required to properly staff the project

  • Review project proposal or plans to determinetime frame, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of theproject

  • Manage all financial aspects of contracts; assure job margin analysis is completed on a regular basis

  • Develop baseline project schedule with assistance fromSuperintendent

  • Monitor and report project cost and schedule performance; recommend corrective actions ifneeded

  • Assist Superintendent with problem or conflict resolution; assist in driving subcontractors or work force

  • Prepare and manage changeorders

  • Review and advance pay requests andinvoicing

  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required; prepare project reports for company management, owner orothers

  • Manage the scope of work and has mastery of the contractdocuments

  • Manage claims; identify and resolve potential claims withsubcontractors/suppliers

  • Participate in project coordinationmeetings

  • Prepare bid packages from constructiondocuments

  • Ensure adherence to insurance, safety, labor relations, EEO and taxregulations

  • Monitor and ensure qualitycontrol

  • Work with Safety Director to ensure jobs have safe working conditions and that safe workpractices are inplace

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key owners andarchitects

  • Foster team camaraderie; mentor Superintendents and Project Engineers; assure each person understands their role on theproject

  • Plan, lead, and manage self-perform drywall crews for framing & hanging o ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of work. At this time, taping and finishing activities are subcontracted out.

  • Oversee drywall estimating and bidding, including material take-offs, production rates, crew sizing, and detailed scope development

  • Evaluate labor needs and proactively staff drywall crews to smooth volatility across projects

  • Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and reliable material availability

  • Collaborate with operations leadership to forecast drywall workload and align field staffing with project demands

  • Build and leverage industry relationships, trade networks, and client contacts to identify drywall-specific opportunities and ensure continuous utilization of self-perform drywall teams

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of drywall tradespeople, working closely with HR and field leadership

  • Track and report drywall labor productivity, crew utilization, and profitability of self-perform drywall operations

  • Ensure drywall scope integration with other trades to minimize rework, delays, and conflicts in the field.

  • Document best practices to share with other projects; ensure best construction methods are being used

  • Direct and ensure timely completion of project close-outactivities

  • Protect and promote the interests of the Company; ensure all compensation for work performedis received

  • Champion skill development of assigned resources through training and performanceappraisals

  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values, and goals to divisionstaff

  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’sdirection

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or relatedfield

  • Ten years of managerial and supervisory experience in the constructionindustry

  • Direct experience managing drywall projects (commercial or large-scale residential) with self-perform crews strongly preferred

  • Expertise in drywall systems, materials, installation methods, production rates, and sequencing

  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods and materials, costing, scheduling, andestimating

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results throughothers

  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to two-year timespan

  • Ability to organize and manage multiplepriorities

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functionallevel

  • Strong customerorientation

Physical Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Ability to move around an active construction site, including walking, climbing stairs/ladders, stooping, and bending, as needed to observe work, conduct inspections, or participate in meetings.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds (plans, materialssamples, orequipment) as part of project oversight.

  • Capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots, for extended periods when on site.

  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including exposure to weather, dust, noise, and uneven surfaces typical of active construction sites.

  • Sufficient visual acuity to read construction documents, observe work in progress, and use a computer.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in order to interact with owners, architects, subcontractors, and field crews.

  • Ability to travel between job sites and offices as required.
