Job Title:
Project Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible for project budget, schedule, billings, coordination, and information management to ensure projects are delivered ahead of schedule, under budget, and meet quality expectations. Reports to Vice President and coordinates with Estimator, Superintendent, Operations Manager, Controller, and GPS Coordinator. Detail oriented with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Manage Projects as assigned by Vice President
· Project Coordination:
o Communicate with customers
o Develop or maintain a rapport with customers
o Attend progress meetings
o Notify Superintendent, Foremen, and Controller of all approved Change Orders
o Collaborate with municipalities, when necessary
· Pre-Construction:
o Fill out Initial Locate Tickets, call in initial locates, add to locate board, and turn over to Administrative Assistant
o Schedule Pre-Construction video, if required, or take pre-construction photographs after locates have cleared
o Attend C&E Project Handoff Meeting
o Secure necessary permits
o Submittals:
§ Review vendor and subcontractor submittals
§ Send to customer for review on C&E Submittal Form
§ Maintain a submittal log to track progression of submittals
§ Notify Superintendent and Foremen of approval
§ Upload approved submittals to HCSS Plans
o Create initial material lists for all vendors and gives to Superintendent and foreman at C&E Project Handoff Meeting
· Schedule:
o Provide a C&E Excavating Project Schedule to Operations Manager, Superintendent, and Foremen at the Project Handoff Meeting
§ Incorporate customer’s schedule, project milestones, and completion dates.
§ Include any long lead time or important material orders on the project schedule
o Update C&E Excavating Project Schedule bi-weekly using adjusted Heavy Job hours and provide to Operations Manager, Superintendent, Foremen, and Subcontractors
§ Notify Operations manager of any tasks that are behind schedule
§ Upload schedule updates to HCSS Plans
o For projects without a dedicated Superintendent, order materials to ensure they are delivered to maintain the project schedule and include Operations Manager and Foremen on all orders.
o Attend weekly Tuesday C&E Scheduling meeting
o Attend monthly long-term scheduling meetings
§ Send Vice President estimated project hours and update long term schedule 1 day prior to the meeting.
· Site Visits:
o Visit project sites once per week at a minimum
o Check work progression, work quality, and safety
o Take photographs and upload to Project Folder and Heavy Job
· Heavy Job:
o Check times ensuring accuracy of cost codes and quantities weekly
o Update quantities and close out completed cost codes weekly
o Create new cost codes for Change Order work and upload using change tracking
o Provide updated labor hour expectations monthly
o Setup and use the Payment Estimate function to submit monthly billings to Controller
o Setup and use the Subcontractor Payment Estimate function to reconcile subcontractor billings.
· HCSS Plans:
o Create project following the C&E HCSS Plans Template
o Upload plans and specifications prior to the C&E Project Handoff Meeting
o Upload approved submittals
o Upload any schedule updates, RFI’s, plan / specification changes, or field orders
· Project Closeout:
o Ensure as-built drawings are turned in by Superintendent, reviewed for accuracy, and submitted to customer
o Submit any required user or product manuals, test results, bid bonds, or warranty letters
o Provide Project Closeout Information sheet to Vice President
o Close out Heavy Job following Heavy Job Closeout Procedure
· Safety:
o Promote and enforce OSHA and company safety compliance
o Wear Personal Protective Equipment (Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protection, gloves, mask) as required
o Attend weekly safety meeting / toolbox talks
o Pass drug test when drawn
o Conduct safety inspections and write-ups during site visits
· Miscellaneous:
o Keep a detailed daily journal of all important phone calls and conversations
o Assist other office staff with opening and closing the shop
o Track employee performance in company spreadsheet
Qualifications and Skills:
· 3 Years’ experience in Project Management or related field
· Impeccable planning and problem-solving skills
· Excellent organization and time management skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Outstanding negotiation skills
· Competent in reading and understanding construction plans
· Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
· Robust understanding of commercial and municipal construction processes
· Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, Heavy Bid, Heavy Job·
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field experience
· Insurable through company auto insurance provider
· OSHA 10 Hour Certification
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
