Job Summary
C-Dive is seeking a motivated Unlicensed Engineer to assist the Captain and crew in maintaining and operating vessel systems. This role is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and daily operation of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems onboard marine vessels. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in marine and outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain and crew with maintenance and operation of vessel systems, including hydraulic, diesel, mechanical, and electrical equipment
- Support installation, fabrication, maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment such as engines, pumps, fixtures, and structural components
- Perform tasks including welding, painting, cleaning, greasing, and equipment inspections
- Monitor equipment performance using meters, gauges, valves, and computerized systems and maintain accurate equipment logs
- Conduct routine inspections of engines, motors, pumps, batteries, and other vessel equipment
- Assist with fueling and lubrication operations, including hose connections and fuel transfer support
- Help ensure equipment and systems remain in safe and efficient operating condition
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and promote an Incident and Injury-Free work environment
- Maintain compliance with C-Dive’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct
Qualifications
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required
- Valid government-issued photo identification required
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and drug/alcohol screening
- Working knowledge of equipment maintenance and mechanical systems preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work cooperatively with crew members
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Comfortable working on marine vessels and around water
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including:
- Hard hats
- Personal flotation devices
- Safety glasses
- Respirators and other safety gear as required
