CD Shanahan's is a long-established, fast-growing home services company serving homeowners across Northern Virginia with top-tier HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service. We are looking for a Residential Service Electrician who can run calls independently, diagnose issues accurately, complete code-compliant repairs, and provide a great customer experience on every visit. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose residential electrical issues, present options, and perform repairs and replacements the same day whenever possible.
- Install and upgrade wiring, panels, breakers, circuits, outlets, switches, lighting, and other residential electrical components to current code.
- Perform safety inspections, troubleshoot tripping breakers, power loss, GFCI/AFCI issues, and other common home electrical problems.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, specs, and applicable electrical codes (NEC and local).
- Communicate clearly with homeowners about findings, options, pricing, and maintenance recommendations in plain language.
- Complete work orders, documentation, and photos accurately on a mobile device before leaving each job.
- Maintain a clean work area, respect customers' homes, and represent CD Shanahan's with professionalism and integrity.
- Follow all safety procedures, use proper PPE, and comply with all electrical codes and company policies.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of residential service electrician experience (running your own calls is a plus).
- Valid Virginia Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or close to obtaining).
- Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems, troubleshooting, and current NEC requirements.
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
- Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in attics/crawlspaces, and handle the physical demands of the job.
- Comfortable using smartphone/tablet apps for dispatch, invoicing, and documentation.
- Excellent customer service skills, professional appearance, and strong communication.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for evenings/weekends as needed.
