Welding Engineer Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve welding procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation.
- Oversee and support field welding operations to ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections, NDE activities, and welding-related testing to verify weld integrity.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to welders and technicians.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and quality teams to ensure fabrication quality and project schedule adherence.
- Support nuclear quality program requirements, audits, surveillance activities, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist with failure analysis, corrective actions, and preparation of required reports and documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of welding engineering experience in industrial, heavy civil, power, or nuclear construction environments.
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), SMAW, FCAW, and gas cutting.
- In-depth knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and applicable fabrication standards. NQA-1 knowledge is preferred but not required.
- Nuclear quality program experience is strongly preferred.
- Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or other AWS certifications preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program.
- Subject to background screening process.
- Ability to work in field construction environments.
