What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Therapist - LMSW, LGPC position at Bzybe?
Job Title: Child Therapist (LMSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, LCPC, or LCMFT) — In-Person, After-School Hours | Oxon Hill, MD | 1099 Contract
Location: Oxon Hill, MD (Prince George's County) — In-person, onsite only
Job Type: Part-time, 1099 Independent Contractor
Pay: $50–$60 per session, based on licensure and experience
Schedule: Flexible after-school hours, Monday–Friday (see below)
About the Opportunity
An established outpatient behavioral health practice in Oxon Hill, MD is seeking an in-person 1099 contract therapist to join the team and see younger children (ages ~6–12) who do best with face-to-face, play-based therapy.
This is a part-time contract role ideal for a Maryland-licensed clinician who wants to build or expand a child therapy caseload with steady, after-school referrals — without the administrative burden of running a private practice. The office handles intake, scheduling, billing, and front-desk coverage so you can focus entirely on clinical work.
The Setting
- Dedicated child therapy room stocked with toys, games, books, and play therapy materials
- Staffed office during all scheduled hours (you are never alone with clients)
- Established practice infrastructure — referrals, scheduling, and billing handled by the office
- Office space available earlier in the day if you want to see additional clients (in-person or virtually from the office)
Hours Needed
The practice's greatest need is after-school coverage for children:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: After school (approximately 3:00 PM) until 5:00 PM
- Wednesday (highest need): After school until as late as 8:30 PM (end time is negotiable if earlier works better for you)
You are welcome to take any combination of these blocks — there is flexibility based on your availability. You're also welcome to come into the office earlier in the day to see additional clients (your own caseload, in-person or virtual from the office).
What You'll Do
- Provide in-person therapy to children ages ~6–12 in a dedicated play therapy space
- Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and document sessions in the practice's EHR
- Use play-based, expressive, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic approaches
- Coordinate with parents/guardians on treatment goals and progress
- Coordinate with schools, pediatricians, and other providers as clinically indicated
- Maintain timely, compliant documentation per practice and licensure standards
What We're Looking For
Required — any one of the following active Maryland licenses:
- LMSW — Licensed Master Social Worker
- LGPC — Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
- LCSW-C — Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical
- LCPC — Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
- LCMFT — Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist
Also required:
- Genuine interest in and experience working with children ages 6–12
- Comfort with play-based, expressive, and developmentally informed therapy modalities
- Reliable, in-person availability for the scheduled hours
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with trauma-informed care, behavioral concerns, anxiety, ADHD, family/school transitions, or grief in children
- Prior experience in private practice, group practice, or community-based child mental health
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Why This Opportunity
- Steady referral flow — the practice has consistent demand for child therapy hours
- No admin burden — intake, billing, scheduling, and EHR are handled
- Established, dedicated space designed for play therapy, not a converted adult office
- Flexible contract structure — pick the hours that work for you; add additional caseload hours at your discretion
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
Salary : $50 - $60
