BZL, Inc. is expanding its intermodal drayage operation into the Port of New York and New Jersey. We are looking for dependable CDL-A owner-operators based near Elizabeth, NJ who want container freight opportunities, a home-daily schedule, and support from a responsive dispatch team.

As a BZL owner-operator, you will use your own truck to transport shipping containers between ports, rail yards, inland terminals, warehouses, and customer facilities. BZL provides the chassis', handles chassis maintenance and repairs, coordinates the freight, communicates with customers, and supports you with professional dispatch and back-office assistance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Safely transport shipping containers between NJ/NY port terminals, rail yards, inland terminals, warehouses, and customer facilities
• Complete local and regional container moves safely and efficiently
• Operate your truck and BZL-provided chassis' in compliance with all applicable FMCSA, DOT, terminal, customer, and BZL safety requirements
• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your truck and chassis
• Maintain accurate driver logs, container paperwork, cargo documentation, and pickup and delivery records
• Communicate effectively with BZL dispatch regarding load details, appointments, delays, terminal conditions, and route changes
• Provide timely and professional service to BZL customers and facility personnel
• Maintain your truck in safe, roadworthy, and DOT-compliant operating condition
• Report chassis maintenance or repair needs to BZL promptly
• Represent BZL and its customers professionally at every pickup and delivery location

OWNER-OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Must own or lease your own roadworthy truck
• Current DOT medical card
• Valid TWIC card or ability to obtain one before beginning port work
• Acceptable motor vehicle and safety record
• Ability to pass a DOT-compliant drug screening
• Verifiable CDL-A tractor-trailer driving experience
• Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT safety requirements
• Ability to maintain accurate driver logs and transportation documentation
• Reliable communication and professional conduct
• Strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and on-time service
• Ability to communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and terminal personnel
• Container, port, rail, or intermodal experience is helpful but not required
• NJ/NY port experience is helpful but not required
• Professional attitude and strong work ethic

OWNER-OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPENSES:

This is an independent contractor owner-operator opportunity. Owner-operators are responsible for operating their own businesses and covering expenses associated with their trucks.

BZL provides the chassis' and is responsible for maintenance and repairs to BZL-provided chassis'. Additional fuel compensation may be incorporated into certain customer rates.

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

$5,000–$8,000 per week.
