The ByteDance Seed Large Model Machine Learning Platform team was established in 2023, aiming to develop industry-leading large model technology and become a world-class platform engineering team that contributes to technological and societal advancement.
The Seed Large Model Machine Learning Platform team has a long-term vision and commitment in the Large Model field, dedicated to building a first-class infrastructure for large model platforms. The team has R&D groups in China, Singapore, the United States. The platform offers functions such as data management, model training, model evaluation, model inference, and model management. The platform's R&D team closely collaborates with business teams, supporting the development of large models for various business scenarios within the company, including Seed, commercialization, and advertising.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for developing ByteDance's machine learning platform to support algorithm production and efficient iteration for related company businesses;
2. Design and implement machine learning infrastructure, frameworks, toolchains, etc., and drive their integration into business applications;
3. Explore cutting-edge machine learning technologies to continuously enhance platform capabilities and reduce algorithm usage costs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Basic understanding and familiarity with large language models, multimodal models, intelligent agent technologies, and the deployment processes associated with large models;
2. Proficiency in Python and/or Go programming, with strong coding practices and effective code management skills;
3. Familiar with foundational server-side technologies, including but not limited to HDFS, Ray, and message queues, along with the ability to efficiently develop and maintain backend services.;
4. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with business teams, understand business requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in developing and optimizing automated evaluation techniques for large models to enhance usability and performance;
2. Solid knowledge of and ability to use common deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and vLLM for model inference and deployment;
3. Experience in open-source projects within communities such as GitHub.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $177688 - $341734 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
