Internships at ByteDance aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $42.75- $42.75.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Responsibilities:
- Develop efficient and highly reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications for e-commerce products.
- Code optimization to improve scalability, reliability, security and performance of web applications.
- Collaborate with product design, product management and software engineering teams to deliver best in class user experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- General familiarity and interest in frontend development, including:
Frontend frameworks: React/Vue/Angular
Packaging frameworks: Webpack/Rollup/BaBel/AST/Gulp
- Familiar with key concepts like functional and asynchronous programming, closures and types, layouts, specificity, animation, cross browser compatibility, data security and accessibility.
- General understanding of multi-tier application architecture and protocols, familiarity with product and software development lifecycle process.
- Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
- Agile, quick self learner, highly self-motivated with strong sense of product ownership and creative problem solver.
- Deeply passionate about software coding/development and building great mobile/web applications.
- Good collaborator and team player, comfortable working in a fast moving, culturally diverse and globally distributed team environment.
