What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Food Service position at Byron Center Public Schools?
General Food Service (up to 29 hours/week)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Friendly personality with a desire to serve children
- A team player who is willing to assist other food service employees and school staff members with numerous and varying tasks
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work under the direction of a lead person
- Previous Food Service experience is helpful but NOT required
- Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures
- ServSafe certification/desire to be ServSafe certified
Position Summary:
- Maintain an acceptable standard of personal hygiene following HACCP procedures
- Interact positively with students, staff, and parents
- Assist in proactive identification of areas in which to improve operations
- Ability to retrieve supplies from freezer, cooler, and storeroom
- Follow proper lifting techniques and can lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to cook various menu items and prepare salad/fresh fruit, and vegetable bar using HACCP procedures
- Ability to handle money accurately and have knowledge of a Point of Service System
- Ability to coordinate production records as required by the Nutrition Service Director or Manager
- Ability to assist with clean up and sanitation according to HACCP procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead person
- This position requires regular and reliable in-person attendance
Hours: Expected to work the school year calendar up to 29 hours per week, Monday - Friday—schedule to be determined.
Wage: EduStaff Hourly Rate
