Roadway Concrete Superintendent

Byrne & Jones Construction is seeking a skilled and motivated Concrete Superintendent to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to apply their existing knowledge to our Roadway projects across the region.

The Concrete Superintendent oversees all field operations related to concrete work on Roadway infrastructure projects. This position ensures that all concrete construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with municipal specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities

• Supervision & Leadership:
  • Direct, schedule, and coordinate daily activities of concrete crews, finishers, and equipment operators.
  • Manage and mentor concrete foremen and job site leads 
  • Will manage subcontractors as needed
• Project Execution:
  • Manage layout, forming, pouring, finishing, and curing of concrete for roads, curbs, sidewalks, gutters, and drainage structures.
  • Coordinate with surveyors, inspectors, and subcontractors to maintain grade and alignment.
• Quality Control:
  • Verify placement methods and testing meet municipal and engineering requirements.
  • Inspect formwork, reinforcement, and finishing to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Scheduling & Coordination:
  • Develop daily and weekly work plans in alignment with project milestones.
  • Coordinate concrete deliveries, equipment needs, and manpower resources.
  • Work closely with project managers to resolve field issues and maintain the schedule.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety standards, traffic control plans, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and job hazard analyses.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate daily reports on crew activities, material quantities, and inspections.
  • Track concrete pours, test results, and field changes for as-built documentation.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required; or technical training or degree in Civil Construction or Construction Management.
• Experience:
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in concrete construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience with Roadway & Infrastructure projects.
