Project Inventory & Materials Specialist
Location: Chesterfield, VA (Local Preferred)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Project-Based
Schedule: Monday–Saturday | 60 Hours Per Week (6 x 10-Hour Days)
Pay: $23.00–$26.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
The Opportunity
Byers Industrial Services is seeking a highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented professional to oversee the inventory and distribution of project tools, materials, and safety equipment on one of our largest industrial construction projects.
This individual will play a vital role in supporting field operations by maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring employees have the tools and materials they need, coordinating deliveries, tracking project assets, and maintaining accountability for company equipment.
This is a hands-on position that combines inventory management, warehouse operations, project logistics, and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate enjoys organization, takes pride in accuracy, and understands the importance of keeping a large construction project running efficiently.

They understand that accurate inventory management directly impacts project productivity, cost control, and the success of field operations.
This individual should be dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while supporting project managers, superintendents, foremen, warehouse personnel, and field employees.
Primary Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of all company-owned tools, materials, consumables, and safety PPE.
- Conduct weekly and monthly physical inventories.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain organized inventory storage areas.
Tool Control
- Manage the daily check-in and check-out process for company-owned tools.
- Maintain accountability for assigned tools and equipment.
- Track damaged, missing, and replacement tools.
- Coordinate tool repairs or replacements as needed.
Material Control
- Receive and inspect incoming material deliveries.
- Verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Assist with unloading and organizing deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of received materials.
- Coordinate distribution of materials throughout the jobsite.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify project leadership of material shortages.
- Assist with material ordering and replenishment.
Safety Equipment
- Maintain inventory of PPE and safety supplies.
- Ensure field employees have the required PPE available.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment when needed.
Administrative Support
- Maintain inventory logs using Microsoft Excel.
- Track tool assignments and material usage.
- Generate inventory reports for project leadership.
- Maintain organized project documentation.
- Support project management with inventory tracking and reporting.
Required Experience
- Previous experience managing inventory, tools, materials, or warehouse operations.
- Experience receiving, inspecting, and organizing material shipments.
- Experience maintaining inventory records and documentation.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
