What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Project Manager position at by design music?
Why By Design
By Design is a modern music company where creators unlock their original design. Based in Nashville, By Design cultivates a creator-first approach through intentional investment in artist development, strategic guidance, trusted relationships and visionary execution. Rooted in Kingdom values, the company is recrafting the future of music and shaping culture through innovation, creative excellence and purpose-driven storytelling.
The Role
The Marketing Project Manager is responsible for turning creative ideas into clear, well-executed marketing campaigns across By Design’s artist roster and company initiatives.
You sit at the intersection of creative, marketing, and operations, ensuring work moves forward smoothly, on time, and with intention. This role is less about commanding and more about orchestrating—bringing clarity, momentum, and follow-through to complex campaigns.
A key part of this role is seeing around corners: identifying risks, gaps, or misalignment early and addressing them before they become problems.
What You’ll Do
• Manage end-to-end timelines for artist releases and marketing campaigns
• Translate creative direction into actionable plans with clear milestones and owners
• Coordinate across creative teams, artists, partners, and vendors
• Bridge creatives and operators across roles, titles, and working styles
• Proactively flag bottlenecks, conflicts, or missing pieces before they escalate
• Maintain project management tools, workflows, and documentation
• Track campaign budgets and scope, coordinating with billing and finance to support accurate invoicing and on budget execution
• Anticipate budget, resourcing, or scope risks early and escalate thoughtfully
• Ensure deliverables meet By Design’s standards for quality and brand alignment
• Close the loop on every project—nothing stalls or drops
How You Work
You lead through communication, consistency, and clarity. You’re comfortable influencing without force, keeping momentum steady, and bringing calm structure to creative environments.
You tend to:
• Build trust quickly across different personalities
• Anticipate challenges and address them early
• Hold people accountable in a supportive, non-rigid way
• Stay steady under pressure during busy release cycles
This role is not a fit for someone who loves generating ideas but prefers others to handle structure, timelines, and
execution.
What We’re Looking For
• 3–5 years of experience in project management, marketing operations, or campaign management
• Experience in music, entertainment, media, or agency environments preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfort managing multiple campaigns at once without losing clarity
What Success Looks Like
• Campaigns launch smoothly and on time
• Artists and partners feel supported and informed
• Creative teams have clarity, not chaos
• Leadership has visibility without micromanaging
