Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled horizontal milling machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up horizontal milling machines to produce precision metal components. Your expertise blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will drive the creation of high-quality parts that meet strict specifications.
Duties
- Operate and set up horizontal milling machines, ensuring precise alignment and calibration for each job
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications to produce accurate components
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and other tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools, hand tools and other manufacturing tools
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying efficiencies in machining processes and reducing waste
Skills
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation
- Mechanical knowledge including the use of measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
- Ability to interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for quality control purposes
- Experience in inspection processes using measurement instruments and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately
- Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills
