Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician may plan, research, develop, and perform manufacturing engineering assignments including, process planning, creating and updating standards, and methods improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop bills of materials, processes, fixtures, and tools needed to manufacture quality and cost-effective parts
• Review drawings/designs and provide design for manufacturing feedback
• Work closely with manufacturing machine shop to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Standard Work documentation
• Support manufacturing quality initiatives
• Use continuous improvement tools to implement process improvements that will reduce cycle time, process variation, defects, changeover time, and lead times
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods
• Participate in area layouts, process definition, and fixture implementation.
• Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for costing of new products and special projects.
• Act as an advocate between Design Engineering and Operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in a technical discipline is preferred or 3-5 years related technical experience.
  
  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of lean principles and process improvements.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not directly supervise other team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
• Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
• Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
• Travel by air or car occasionally
