What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Coordinator position at BVA Advanced Eye Care?
Local Ophthalmology Practice is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join the team. Job is very high pace and candidate must be able to handle multiple requests at one time. Job does require some travel to satellite clinics.
Job duties include:
Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary
Utilize our medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments
Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
Schedule surgery with ASC and hospitals; schedule follow up appointments
Gather necessary documentation for surgical procedures
Verify that patient has received all necessary education, including financial information, to make an informed decision prior to surgery
Collect copays/deductibles/patient payments
Verify insurance and obtain pre-certifications for surgery
Work closely with facilities to ensure all necessary paperwork is sent to facilities.
Work closely with providers to ensure all necessary documentation is given to providers & then received from providers & sent to facilities to make surgery run smoothly.
The ideal candidate we are looking for must have:
HS diploma/GED
Ability to multi-task
Eagerness to learn and a positive attitude
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD10 coding preferred
Computer knowledge, including being very comfortable using tablet for multiple tasks
The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic, upbeat people-person who is detail-oriented and possesses exceptional communication skills and a warm and professional demeanor.
This is a full time, hourly position: Monday – Friday with some days being 8 hours.
Position requires some travel.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
