Note:
We are seeking a highly experienced GIS Specialist – Expert to support the long-term maintenance and enterprise integration of the NCDOT Hydrography Layer within the Enterprise GIS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in enterprise GIS systems, linear referencing, ESRI Roads and Highways, SQL database querying, ETL workflows, and GIS data QA/QC processes. This role requires hands-on experience supporting large-scale transportation or infrastructure geospatial datasets and ensuring reliable enterprise GIS operations.
Key Skills & Expertise:
Strong hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and enterprise geodatabases
Expertise in Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) and ESRI Roads and Highways
Strong experience in GIS data QA/QC, spatial data validation, and data integrity processes
Hands-on experience with ETL process creation, maintenance, and data migration workflows
Advanced SQL Server database querying and enterprise database management experience
Experience working with transportation, hydrography, infrastructure, or DOT-related GIS datasets
Strong understanding of GIS geometry, event, and attribute management
Experience with Python, FME, ArcPy, or other GIS automation tools
Ability to generate progress reports, status tracking, and operational documentation
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience / Requirements:
7 years of experience in Enterprise GIS and Geospatial Data Management
Strong experience supporting Linear Referencing and ESRI Roads and Highways implementations
Hands-on experience with ETL workflows, SQL Server queries, and GIS data integration
Experience performing enterprise-level GIS QA/QC and data validation processes
Strong understanding of transportation or infrastructure GIS environments
Experience supporting enterprise GIS maintenance and operational support activities
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
Responsibilities:
Support the long-term maintenance and enterprise integration of the NCDOT Hydrography Layer
Manage geometry, event, and attribute updates within enterprise GIS systems
Perform GIS data QA/QC and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability
Develop and maintain ETL processes for GIS data migration and integration
Execute direct SQL Server database queries and support enterprise reporting activities
Support Linear Referencing workflows and ESRI Roads and Highways data management
Create progress reports, operational documentation, and status updates for stakeholders
Collaborate with GIS teams, business stakeholders, and enterprise support teams
Maintain enterprise GIS datasets and ensure compliance with business rules and standards
Troubleshoot GIS data issues and support ongoing operational improvements
