Role Description Under the leadership of the Director of Performance Analytics, the Senior Business Analyst provides advanced analytical and operational support to assigned Business Units. This role translates retail data into actionable insights, manages recurring reporting and processes, and supports effective decision-making across the organization.
The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
This role will:
· Own recurring sales, inventory, promotional, and ad hoc reporting for assigned Business Units
· Own primary communication for assigned Tier 2, Tier 3, and third-party accounts
· Analyze performance trends, risks, and opportunities and provide recommendations for Account Manager review
· Manage inventory flow grids and identify overage, markdown, replenishment, and inventory-build concerns
· Maintain analytical tools supporting forecasting, promotional planning, and vendor income tracking
· Own the research chargebacks, post-audits, and financial discrepancies, escalating items requiring negotiation or strategic decisions and successfully submitting disputes and reversals
· Own the timely and accurate completion of new-item setup, sampling, imaging, and retailer-system workflows
· Lead competitive research, comp-shop analysis, and category trend reporting
· Manage Vendor Report Cards, audit preparation, and account-performance tracking
· Support Time and Action plans by monitoring deadlines, dependencies, and deliverables
· Prepare analytical materials for line reviews, vendor meetings, business reviews, and special projects
· Resolve reporting, data, system, and process issues within the scope of the role
· Improve reporting tools, workflows, documentation, and standard operating procedures
· Mentor Business Analysts through quality review, training, and knowledge sharing
· Serve as a subject-matter resource for assigned systems, tools, and analytical processes
· Complete additional analytical and operational projects as needed
· Be hybrid, in-office Tuesday through Thursday with required local travel and lifting as needed to support sample management and POG building
Qualifications:
· 1–3 years of experience in retail analytics, consumer packaged goods, merchandising, inventory planning, or account support
· Ability to translate sales, inventory, promotional, and financial data into actionable insights
· Experience managing recurring reports, competing priorities, and deadlines
· Understanding of Target systems, including POL, PCN, Greenfield, and SPARK, or similar retailer systems
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
· Experience with inventory analysis, forecasting, promotional reporting, vendor income, chargebacks, or post-audits
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment
· Ability to coach team members and contribute to process improvement
· Reliable car and ability to lift 50lbs
