What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager, Transaction Advisory Services position at Buxbaum?
Buxbaum HCS is seeking a Senior Manager to join our growing Transaction Advisory practice. You'll work both independently and as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team supporting primarily sell-side Financial Due Diligence, Quality of Earnings ("QofE"), and Transaction CFO engagements for middle-market, privately owned businesses.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility role in a boutique firm where your contributions are seen. You'll partner directly with founders, owners, attorneys, and investment bankers on engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial due diligence engagements across the sell-side transaction lifecycle — including QofE, net working capital analysis, and supporting financial modeling.
- Manage concurrent engagements, driving high-quality deliverables, clear communication, and disciplined adherence to time-sensitive deal calendars.
- Analyze target financials to surface key risks, accounting issues, and value drivers; present findings clearly to business owners, executives, investors, lenders, and other deal stakeholders, including audiences who may have little to no prior M&A experience.
- Own preparation and review of Key Findings Reports, databooks, and presentation materials that frame proposed adjustments, working capital positions, and deal considerations.
- Assess the quality of a target's reported revenue, margins, earnings, net assets, net working capital, and cash flows and anticipate the buy-side questions that will follow.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues across Buxbaum's Outsourced Accounting, Fractional CFO, and Interim Support practices to deliver integrated solutions that extend beyond closing including post-close transition support for PE-acquired clients.
- Mentor and develop staff through structured feedback, on-the-job coaching, and engagement-level training; help build the next layer of transaction talent at the firm.
- Lead meetings with client management, target company management, and external advisors; serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact on execution matters.
- Coordinate effectively with investment bankers, M&A attorneys, PE sponsors, lenders, and other parties throughout the deal process.
- Contribute meaningfully to firm growth through business development. Managers should be open to participate in cultivating referral relationships, contributing thought leadership content, attending transaction-focused industry events, and supporting client retention and expansion. This is a firm where entrepreneurial energy is genuinely rewarded.
- Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or travel to client and firm locations as transaction timelines require.

- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), inventory, and accrual-basis accounting concepts

- Strong project management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to run several active transactions simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with comfort presenting to owner-operators, executives, and institutional investors alike
- Strong interpersonal and team-building instincts
- Composure and effectiveness in fast-paced, time-sensitive, and sometimes messy deal environments
- Willingness to be "on call" at critical points in the transaction process when active engagement is required
- Comfortable operating as both a team leader and an individual contributor
