Position Overview
South Florida commercial real estate developer seeking a Construction Controller responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the construction organization, including accounting, job costing, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial reporting. This role ensures accurate financial management across all projects and supports executive leadership with strategic financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership — Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, collections, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Job Costing Management — Maintain accurate job cost records, monitor variances, and support project managers with cost‑to‑complete analysis.
- Budgeting & Forecasting —annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and cash‑flow planning for the company and individual projects.
- WIP Reporting — Prepare monthly work‑in‑progress schedules, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.
- Internal Controls — Establish and maintain strong internal controls, approval workflows, and audit readiness.
- Billing & Compliance —AIA billing, lien waivers, retainage, certified payroll, and tax compliance.
- Vendor & Contract Oversight — Review subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and vendor terms to ensure financial accuracy.
- Team Management — Supervise accounting staff, provide training, and ensure timely, accurate financial operations.
- Executive Reporting — Deliver monthly financial statements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in construction or project‑based accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software such as Sage 300, Timberline experience is a must.
