Mental Health Therapist

Butterfly Beginnings Counseling
Davenport, IA Full Time | Part Time | Contractor
POSTED ON 7/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/2/2026

This is your chance to snag the sweet spot of self-employment freedom plus the stability and support of an established practice. (Think built-in referrals and expert business coaching!)

We're seeking highly motivated therapists with a passion for working with children, adolescents, and families on a wide range of issues.

Our client roster is a wild mix: 17% tiny humans just learning to share their toys (and maybe a few germs), 43% elementary explorers (who probably need a nap), 32% 'tween-agers navigating the mysterious land of middle school, 8% actual teens (shoutout to the eye-rolls), and 1% grown-up unicorns!

You'll need to be game for joining (or already be on) some insurance panels. Don't worry, we'll help you navigate that! This is a contract role, and we've got your back with all the tedious stuff: admin, marketing, scheduling clients, and filing insurance claims.

Your superpower will be building awesome rapport, diagnosing like a pro, evaluating, and crafting super-effective treatment plans for our diverse clientele. The best part? You're the boss of your schedule! Work weekdays, weekends, or evenings, whatever fits your life. Additionally, you can opt to meet with clients either in the office or virtually via telehealth.

Requirements: The Fun Stuff!

  • Master's Degree (Must-Have!)
  • Iowa LISW, LMSW, LMHC, t-LMHC, or a similar cool credential (Got your badge?)

Duties: Let's Get to Work (and Play!) Provide outpatient or school-based mental health services to awesome kids, teens, and families as a contract therapist through our own Butterfly Beginnings Counseling family.

Traits: Who We're Looking For

  • A heart for working with children, adolescents, and their amazing families.
  • Super-duper people skills and communication superpowers to connect with clients.
  • A strong ethical compass and a pinky-swear commitment to keeping client stories safe (confidentiality!).
  • The ability to be your own boss and manage your time like a pro.
  • You truly resonate with the Butterfly Beginnings Counseling spirit—things like focusing on family, believing in the power of play, celebrating diversity, spreading encouragement, leading with empathy, fostering self-discovery, and finding your purpose.

Outcomes: Making a Difference

  • Deliver top-notch mental health services that help our children, teens, and families truly bloom.
  • Dream up and put into action awesome, personalized treatment plans that guide clients to reach their therapeutic mountaintops!
  • Help the Butterfly Beginnings Counseling name shine brighter and grow!
  • Team up like a superhero squad with colleagues and community friends to give our clients the best possible care.

Competencies: Your Tool Kit

  • Therapeutic Magic:
  • A natural talent for building those strong, trust-filled therapeutic bonds.
  • Expertise in assessing mental health, figuring out what's going on (diagnosing), and creating those individualized roadmaps (treatment plans).
  • Rock-star proficiency in using interventions that work (evidence-based!).
  • Experience and a playful spirit when it comes to using play therapy techniques.
  • Fitting Our Vibe:
  • You embrace our family-focused philosophy and encourage the whole family to get involved!
  • You see the good in everyone! You use a strength-based lens, highlighting client strengths and inner resources to build resilience.
  • A commitment to always learning and growing (ongoing professional development is a must!).

Compensation: What You Get Back Competitive compensation: $40-$65 per 45-minute session, because your hard work deserves it!
