Responsibilities:
- Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings and races
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and lighting systems
- Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, and sub frames
- Repair or replace ICC’s , mud flap brackets, dolly leg assemblies by means of welding or cutting with oxy-acetylene torch
- Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors, and door trim, repair roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails
- Repair and required preventative maintenance of trailers
- Clean own personal area during and at end of each day
- Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50-80 lbs; activities include walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, kneeling
- HS diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; CDL is a plus but not required
- Must be able to read and follow written procedures, company policies, safety protocols and DOT regulations
- Ability to work off ground level with proper safety equipment
- Basic computer skills required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a trailer body mechanic should include previous experience with fabrications, suspensions, air breaks, electrical systems, body repairs and welding
- Must exemplify the ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions.
- Must have the ability to work first or second shift, as well as any overtime scheduled, in any weather conditions, including an un-air-conditioned environment
- Must have strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, tractors, containers, forklifts, power jacks, lift gates, power tools, and trailer parts
- Must have own tools
