Feedmill Operator

Position Summary:

The Operator’s responsibilities are to support the feed making process by producing, maintaining, and distributing feed as needed.

Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:

• Perform various tasks to include repetitive manual labor to produce feed.
• Collect samples of feed.
• Produce feed.
• Load feed trucks.
• Receive ingredients by both truck and rail.
• Prepare and organize recordkeeping on ingredients.
• Maintain proper safety and housekeeping requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition/subtraction, multiplication/division)
• Able to work weekends and overtime
• Must be self motivated and able to work with little supervision
• Basic mechanical understanding (identifying tools, operating basic mechanical tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
• Must be able to become forklift certified.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing (8 hours a day or more).
• Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more).
• Ability to work at heights up to 120 feet
• Ability to climb 90 foot ladder
• Walking/climbing stairs. Gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.
• Bending and stooping for long periods of time.

Working Conditions/Department Description:

• Shift times may vary depending on season. Hours will be primarily 8AM-6PM. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
• Work shift and hours may vary depending on season.
• Job assignments are subject to the supervisor’s discretion, and job duties may vary day-to-day depending on production needs.
• May work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments.
• Work with loud and noisy machinery
• Work will be performed above ground level and extreme heights.
• Work will be performed in confined spaces.
• Work with or around chemicals/fumes/pungent odors
