Yard Assistant

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE: 

The Yard Assistant supports the Yard Attendant and yard operations team by helping receive, move, organize, load, and unload materials and merchandise. This role assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient yard environment, keeping materials organized, and supporting daily operational needs as directed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  (Position may include additional functions not listed.)*

• Assist the Yard Attendant with loading and unloading materials from trailers, shipping containers, and other delivery vehicles.
• Help move, organize, and place materials in designated yard, warehouse, or storage locations.
• Assist with keeping pick areas stocked, clean, and organized.
• Help with general cleanup and housekeeping in the yard, cap shed, and surrounding work areas.
• Support shop personnel and installers with loading materials as needed.
• Assist with counting, sorting, and organizing inventory and merchandise.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable health and safety regulations.
• Perform physical tasks accurately and efficiently under the direction of the Yard Attendant or supervisor.
• Assist with other related yard, warehouse, and operations duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, etc.)

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous yard, warehouse, material handling, or forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to read labels, item descriptions, and numbers accurately.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow instructions and carry out assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
• Strong sense of responsibility, dependability, and accountability.

PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (physical, environmental, travel, etc.)

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly perform physically demanding work in an outdoor or warehouse environment.
• Ability to periodically lift and move heavy objects.
• Ability to safely operate equipment and perform manual labor for extended periods.
