  • WORK YEAR:** Part time: 7 hours per day/2 days per week/11 months (Prorated upon hire)
  • START DATE**: August 7, 2025
  • SALARY:** Salary Schedule 04, $285.26 to $681.87 daily. This position is exempt from overtime. Annual stipend pay: Master's $1,200 or Doctorate $2,000 (Prorated upon hire)

Newly hired personnel will be credited on a year-for-year basis with a maximum of eleven (11) years verified certificated experience for previous public or private service if such service has been rendered under contract in an accredited system. For experience exceeding eleven (11) and up to nineteen (19) years, personnel will be credited with one (1) year additional step placement for every two years of experience, not to exceed sixteen (16) steps at initial placement.

Under the direction of the Site/Program Administrator or their designee, Butte County Office of Education (BCOE) Teachers will provide effective educational programs for students in alternative settings in independent study, special education, community school, or juvenile court school programs. In order to support successful transitions into subsequent educational levels and the workforce, teachers will assess the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of their students; develop safe, consistent, and nurturing learning environments; establish positive school-home relationships; utilize effective instructional strategies, techniques, and culturally relevant curriculum to support student achievement.

To meet the needs of all students, BCOE Teachers will be part of a systematic collaborative process to analyze student data, to inform instructional practices that result in improved student learning and outcomes. BCOE Teachers must use an educational process that blends teaching knowledge with student performance, and demonstrate knowledge of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and the California Academic Content Standards. BCOE Teachers will be expected to grow as educational professionals to attain greater confidence in working with diverse learners.

  • Implement evidenced-based programs that show consistent and continued gains in academics, behavior, and social-emotional needs
  • Design and develop a safe and nurturing educational environment that supports an instructional learning program for students based on individual and group learning styles
  • Implement grade-level appropriate instructional techniques to foster self-esteem and academic success for students
  • Use academically culturally appropriate resources and curriculum to guide instruction
  • Collaboratively develop and responsibly implement individualized educational plans (IEP) or 504 plans
  • Facilitate and participate in community and educational partner outreach
  • Support and participate in activities of Parent Advisory Councils or Site Councils
  • Actively participate as a member of educational collaborative teams
  • Implement accountability systems for formative assessments and evaluations of the progress of students in the areas of academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning
  • Work with staff, volunteers, tutors, interns, and parents to assist with program implementation
  • Participate in professional in-service training activities
  • Use multiple assessments to identify, monitor, assess, and evaluate the achievement of students

  • Use advanced skills in the development of innovative instructional strategies that actively engage students and have a comprehensive understanding of California Academic Content Standards, demonstrate skills in effective classroom/behavior management, and employ differentiated instruction to meet the needs of specific student populations (English language development, Special Education, low performing, gifted)
  • Use assessment data to guide instruction to support student learning and achievement, implement standards-based curriculum and instruction
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, families and community representatives of students enrolled
  • Establish effective working relationships with community agencies in support of educational, social and emotional needs of students
  • Build success with students in fostering civic responsibility and developing positive self-concept
  • Have knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction and the incorporation of technology into the classroom environment
  • Be experienced in the use of the California Content Standards for everyday instruction

  • Extensive Support Needs
  • Moderate/Severe Disabilities with an Education Specialist Bridge - Extensive Support Needs
  • Moderate/Severe Disabilities will be considered; however, will need to obtain the Education Specialist Bridge - Extensive Support Needs authorization within 1 year of employment*
  • Mild to Moderate Support Needs
  • Mild/Moderate Disabilities with an Education Specialist Bridge - Mild to Moderate Support Needs authorization
  • Mild/Moderate Disabilities with an Added Autism Authorization; however, will need to obtain the Education Specialist Bridge - Mild to Moderate Support Needs authorization within 1 year of employment*
  • The 3-hour Bridge authorization requirement will need to be completed during the first year of employment and is offered
