Duties
- Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate garden-based curricula aligned with early childhood education standards and literacy education principles
- Lead hands-on activities such as planting, watering, composting, and garden maintenance to enhance classroom learning
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate outdoor lessons into classroom lessons on subjects like math, science, and physical education
- Support children’s social-emotional development through behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement during outdoor activities
- Adapt activities for children with special needs or in early intervention programs to ensure inclusive participation
- Maintain the safety and welfare of all students by supervising outdoor sessions and managing classroom behavior effectively
- Document student progress, prepare lesson plans, and assess learning outcomes to support ongoing educational goals
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in preschool or elementary school settings, including classroom management and lesson planning
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and special education needs
- Experience developing curriculum content related to gardening, environmental science, or outdoor education
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or other child-centered educational philosophies is a plus
- Strong communication skills to engage children effectively and collaborate with educators and parents
- Previous classroom experience in daycare, private schools, or early childhood programs is highly desirable
- Ability to adapt activities for diverse learners including toddlers, children with behavioral challenges, or those requiring additional support
