This is a stable, professional home for a machinist who takes pride in "heavy-metal" precision and wants to be treated like a person, not a number.The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include the following:Perform complete setups and from-scratch programming (G-Code and GibbsCAM) for Vertical Turret Lathes to execute complex boring, drilling, facing, and milling operationsManage large-format machining projects, handling components weighing several thousand pounds with 100% accuracy and safetyAnalyze blueprints and technical drawings to determine sequence of operations, tolerances, and optimal tooling for custom, non-repetitive jobsMonitor machining processes for peak efficiency, adjusting feeds, speeds, and offsets to ensure first-article quality on every runCollaborate directly with ownership and engineering to troubleshoot complex setups and improve processes for critical prototype and R&D projectsThe background of the successful candidate must include the following:5 years of independent setup and machining experience specifically on CNC VTLs or very large CNC LathesProven track record in a custom job-shop environment (candidates from small-part production backgrounds will not be a fit)Proficiency in G-Code programming and the ability to utilize shop trigonometry for layout and verificationExperience with GibbsCAM and large-scale machinery (HNK, Toshiba, or similar) is highly preferredA stable, reliable work history showing a commitment to quality and professional growthBeing a US citizen or Green Card holder with a residence within a 45-minute commute of the Fox Valley area
