Light Industrial Painter – Job Description
Position Summary
A Light Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal or manufactured parts using various painting techniques and equipment. This role ensures products meet quality, durability, and appearance standards, often in a production or fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking, degreasing)
- Mix and apply paints, coatings, primers, or finishes according to specifications
- Operate spray guns, paint booths, and related equipment
- Inspect finished products for quality, thickness, and defects
- Perform touch-ups and rework as needed
- Maintain paint equipment and ensure proper cleaning after use
- Follow work orders, blueprints, or specifications for coating requirements
- Monitor drying/curing times and environmental conditions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Comply with all safety and environmental regulations (including PPE use)
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with spray painting or industrial coating preferred
- Knowledge of different coatings (epoxy, powder coat, enamel, etc.)
- Ability to read basic work instructions or blueprints
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to use measuring tools (e.g., thickness gauges)
- Good hand-eye coordination
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Work in environments with fumes, noise, and varying temperatures
- Wear respirators, gloves, and protective clothing
$18 to $25 depending upon experience
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
