What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist position at Butler County Redevelopment Authority?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Assists the residents of public and private housing projects and apartments in relocation and provides information concerning regulation, facilities, and service.
· Processes moves, annual recertifications and interim rent changes monthly.
· Informs the landlords and the tenants of regulations and changes in regulations as needed.
· Assists tenants and landlords with questions, problems, and/or paperwork by telephone or walk-ins on a daily basis.
· Completes moves; annual and interim examinations to verify income and family compositions to calculate rent.
· Familiarizes property owners and families in their rights and obligations under the Section 8 Program.
· Schedules and coordinates the Housing Quality Standard inspections, re-inspections, and special inspections.
· Explains rules established by the owner or management such as sanitation, and maintenance requirements, and parking regulations.
· Advises tenants of housekeeping deficiencies when necessary.
· Prepares reconciliation reports for owners or property management as requested.
· Provides information to the clients on the nature and location of available community services such as clinics and recreation centers.
· Prepares and mails "Zero Income Verification" letters on a Quarterly basis as required by HUD.
· Shares the Section 8 front office duties daily as necessary.
· Processes letters through the office mail machine as needed.
· Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Three (3) years of experience in customer service or a related field.
· Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
· Valid PA Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Skill in providing excellent customer service.
- Skill in the use of various office equipment, including fax machine, copier, and phone system.
- Skill in basic to intermediate data entry.
- Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and various software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
