GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Study Hall Monitor supervises students during study hall, enforces rules and helps students
with their work in the Juvenile Justice Center for incarcerated youth. The successful candidate
will provide support through the APEX e-learning platform in Math, English, Social Studies, and
Science, while also fostering a positive and structured learning environment. Strong classroom
management skills and familiarity with Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) are
essential, as you will work with a diverse population of students from various ages and
backgrounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
? Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit/ESEA or Substitute license or willing to obtain.
? Experience working in a school environment with at risk youth.
? Ability to utilize restorative practices and trauma-informed teaching approaches to create
a supportive educational atmosphere.
? Knowledge of effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and
focused learning environment.
? Experience working in an engaging and culturally responsive environment to support the
needs of the youth.
? Proven ability to model a positive image in dress, behavior, language, and attitude.
? Willingness and ability to work as a team member
? Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and facility.
? Good organizational skills and detail-oriented.
? Physically fit with the ability to perform restraints when needed.
? History of good job attendance.
? Must pass criminal background checks and be free from communicable diseases.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
