Position Summary
The School Grounds Crew Employee plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for maintaining school grounds, landscaping, outdoor facilities, athletic fields, and related equipment.
Grounds Maintenance
- Mow lawns, trim edges, and maintain landscaped areas.
- Plant, prune, water, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns.
- Apply mulch, fertilizer, weed control, and other treatments as needed.
- Rake leaves, remove debris, and maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas.
General Outdoor Care
- Clean and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, playgrounds, courtyards, and athletic facilities.
- Remove trash and recycling from outdoor bins and designated areas.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, ice control, and storm cleanup.
Athletic Field Maintenance
- Prepare and maintain fields for school sports, including lining fields, grooming surfaces, and repairing turf.
- Inspect and maintain outdoor sports equipment and fixtures.
Equipment Operation & Care
- Safely operate groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment and report needed repairs.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and use proper protective equipment.
- Report hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Support emergency response or special school events as needed.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in lawn care, landscape maintenance, or groundskeeping is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge related to landscaping equipment and power tools
- Basic knowledge of horticulture, turf management, or facility care is a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Pay: $17.25 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
