Your expertise in child development instruction, classroom management, and caregiving will be essential in fostering positive developmental experiences.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development in young children.
• Supervise children closely to ensure safety and well-being at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
• Foster a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and positive behavior management.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of children's development, attendance, and daily activities in compliance with childcare standards.
• Follow mandated reporting laws to report any signs of neglect or abuse promptly and appropriately.
• Support infants and toddlers with specialized care needs, including infant care routines and preschool experiences.

Qualifications

• 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six;
• or One year (1,560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six;
• or Completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department (Early Childhood Teacher Credentialing Programs):
• Child Development Associate Credential (Council for Professional Recognition);
• or Certified Childcare Professional (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation) (NECPA));
• or Gateways to Opportunity Credentials: i) ii) Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Credential Level 3 or higher;
• or The Infant Toddler Credential (ITC) Level 3 or higher
• Early childhood teachers and school-age workers shall be at least 19 years of age. Early childhood teachers and school-age workers shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
• Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is required
• Strong classroom experience with effective classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members.
• Ability to adhere to safety protocols such as child supervision standards and behavior management strategies.
• Familiarity with daycare experience regulations, mandated reporting laws, and childcare licensing requirements.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
