We are currently recruiting a Chemist (Intermediate) to support forensic and toxicology research within an aerospace medical research division dedicated to advancing aviation safety.
Position Overview:
The Chemist (Intermediate) will perform complex analytical and forensic laboratory procedures involving the detection and quantification of chemical substances in biological specimens. This position plays a key role in supporting toxicology operations, maintaining quality assurance standards, and conducting research to identify emerging drugs and analytical methods.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform complex and repetitive analytical tasks following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for analyzing chemical substances in biological specimens, including postmortem fluids and tissues

Conduct forensic analytical work using:

Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)

High Performance Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (HPLC/MS)
-
UV/VIS Spectrophotometry
-
Immunoassay techniques
-

Record, verify, and maintain laboratory notes in accordance with SOP guidelines
-
Contribute to Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions and participate in laboratory accreditation processes

Develop new forensic procedures to detect and analyze emerging drugs

Perform research to evaluate and recommend new laboratory equipment

Maintain chemical and supply inventory per laboratory SOPs
-
Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in compliance with ISO and ABFT requirements

Conduct statistical analysis of laboratory data

Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Perform independent research to enhance laboratory methods and capabilities
Qualifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Forensic Science, or a related field from an accredited university

Experience:

4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree

1 year of related experience with a Master’s degree

Preferred Skills:

Experience operating GC/MS, HPLC/MS, or other analytical instrumentation

Strong understanding of forensic chemistry and toxicology principles

Familiarity with ISO and ABFT laboratory standards

Excellent recordkeeping, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment
