PURPOSE
To assist in processing and maintaining the district’s payroll records and related files. Maintain the time keeping system for the district
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Maintains the Kronos time keeping system for the district. Sets up all the Kronos editors and approvers for the district. Maintains the schedules for all hourly staff in the district. Troubleshoots when issues arise with the time clocks and have general knowledge on how to fix these issues.
- Periodically audit Kronos editors to make sure they are accurately recording edits and keeping appropriate documentation
- Handles the special payroll for the district, including checking forms for accuracy, compiling all information into excel spreadsheets to be imported into the payroll system each month and checking to make sure employees get paid correctly.
- Creates the payroll import files every two weeks for the biweekly payroll and checks for accuracy to ensure hourly staff is paid correctly
- Assist with all summer school payrolls, keying in information and checking for accuracy
- Processes payroll related items, including new hire/re-hire paperwork, withholdings, direct deposits and other deductions
- Perform other duties, including typing, answering the telephone, filing, preparing reports, etc. for payroll
- Checks monthly payroll at the start of the school year to ensure salaried staff is getting paid their correct contract amount
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Candidate must be a High School Graduate with at least one-year related experience. Strong interpersonal skills are needed along with the organizational ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and have technology skills.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field of study. Experience with payroll functions and electronic timekeeping systems.
Ideal Candidate would possess all the qualifications noted above and be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents daily. Candidate will be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. A strong attention to detailed, accurate, efficient work will be beneficial. Strong technology skills, ability to multi-task, and excellent communication skills are necessary. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
