Position Summary:
The Engineer will focus on unit assembly support for all flavors of GTs that GE Vernova offers. They will primarily support the GVL factory needs in this area which includes piece part machining and/or assembly across all components that make up a GT. They will be responsible for delivering optimal solutions for our customers and will have a focus on driving defect reduction, qualifications, analyzing and dispositioning non-conformances, performing hand calculations, Ansys FEA as needed, owning specific actions related to engineering drawing revisions, applying lean principals to drive productivity and in general – helping to solve some of the biggest challenges we face in building our GT engines.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality solutions to address deviant hardware and design support for CAs to help reduce or prevent repeat incidents.
- Conceive innovative ideas to solve unit assembly manufacturing and design problems.
- Leverage hand calculations, CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for analysis supporting dispositions to deviant hardware, redesign efforts, and drawing revisions to support improved manufacturability.
- Evaluate unit assembly level clearances across the entire GT
- Support factory test initiatives and challenges as needed such as review of borescope inspection results
- Conduct technical reviews for design tasks with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs). Evaluate and mitigate component, assembly, and/or system level risks.
- Execute standard work and design templates for common issues encountered for specific components/assemblies. Identify creative ways to improve and create our processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods.
- Maintain strong relationships with supply chain teams. Keep abreast of new NTI, NPI, and emerging fleet services issues.
- Drive technical rigor and integrity in all aspects of design and post-design work.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Controlled Title Holders, Systems, Performance, Repair, Heat Transfer, etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Proficiency in CAD software. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
