Job Title: PRN Nurse Practitioner

Department: Clinical Services
Reports To: Owner(s) / Clinical Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / PRN

Job Summary

The PRN Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients in a clinical and occupational health setting. This role includes performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating primary and occupational health conditions, and maintaining accurate and confidential medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with internal team members and maintains professional relationships with clients to ensure optimal patient outcomes and client satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and medical evaluations for patients and injured workers.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage primary and occupational health conditions in accordance with established medical protocols.
  • Review, document, and manage patient charts with attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Use visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform medical assessments and procedures.
  • Participate in and oversee special projects, reports, and assignments as requested by management.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Internal and External Relationships

Internal:

  • Reports directly to the Owner(s) or Clinical Director regarding performance, goals, scheduling, and other HR-related functions.

External:

  • Maintains positive and professional relationships with all Business Health Partners clients and partners.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of Texas.
  • Texas Board of Prescriptive Authority certification.
  • Current malpractice insurance coverage.
  • CDL Provider Certification (National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Family or Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers, medical instruments, and office equipment.
  • Ability to view and operate computer screens for extended periods.
  • Must have adequate vision and hearing to safely and effectively perform essential job functions.
