Job Summary
The Occupational Medical Technician supports medical providers in delivering high-quality occupational health services. This role includes assisting with patient care, performing a variety of clinical tests, maintaining medical supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Support
- Assist medical providers with patient care and medical injuries.
- Perform components of occupational health physicals.
- Conduct clinical tests including:
- Vision tests
- Fit tests
- Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
- Drug & alcohol testing
- Audiograms
- Phlebotomy
- Vital signs collection
- Urinalysis
Administrative & Operational
- Maintain and perform inventory checks of medical supplies.
- Follow all applicable HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
- Work flexible hours during peak times as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC/Safety Cards.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check.
Preferred Skills (optional to include)
- Previous experience in occupational health, medical assistance, or related field.
- Familiarity with clinical testing procedures and equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, and walking.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers and office equipment.
- Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as required.
