Business Alabama is seeking an Advertising Sales Representative to build client relationships and grow advertising revenue across our print publication, digital platforms, and events.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys connecting with businesses, understands their marketing goals, and can recommend advertising opportunities that meet their needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new advertising and sponsorship opportunities with local and regional businesses.
- Manage existing accounts, maintain regular client communication, and develop repeat business.
- Recommend print, digital, sponsored content, and event sponsorship packages based on client goals and budgets.
- Prepare proposals, present advertising options, and close sales.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, client communications, proposals, and sales activity.
- Coordinate with editorial, design, and digital teams to communicate campaign details, collect materials, and meet deadlines.
- Track account balances and assist with payment follow-up.
- Work toward established sales goals and stay informed about Alabama businesses and industry developments.
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience, preferably in media or advertising.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues.
- Familiarity with Alabama’s business community is a plus.
- Experience with digital advertising, marketing, or event sponsorships is a plus.
Position Details
This is a full-time, outside sales position based in Birmingham, Alabama. Some in-state travel required. Salary is base plus commission. Benefits include health insurance and paid vacation/sick days. Fridays are half days.
