Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Criminal Defense Paralegal role located in Macon, GA. The paralegal will assist attorneys with case management, including organizing files, maintaining case calendars, and tracking deadlines. Daily responsibilities include drafting and formatting legal documents, preparing discovery, compiling exhibits, and filing pleadings with the court. The role also involves conducting factual and legal research, summarizing police reports and witness statements, and preparing for trial. The paralegal will interact with clients, schedule appointments, manage phone and email correspondence, and help ensure that all case-related information is accurate, complete, and securely maintained.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant or 1 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in criminal law
- Strong legal research, writing, and document preparation abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in organizing case files, managing calendars, and tracking deadlines within a fast-paced criminal defense environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, court staff, and other legal professionals.
- Comfort with legal technology, including case management software, word processing tools, and electronic filing systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Paralegal certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
Pay: $15.00 - $32.00 per hour
