Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist students with special education needs during bus transportation, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual student requirements to promote positive conduct and discipline
- Support students with physical disabilities by assisting with mobility, seating arrangements, and necessary accommodations
- Enforce school policies, safety regulations, and evacuation procedures to maintain a secure environment during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel regarding student needs, behaviors, or incidents
- Administer basic first aid and CPR when necessary, responding promptly to emergencies or health concerns on the bus
- Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting incidents or behavioral issues accurately in compliance with school policies
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or students with disabilities in educational or childcare settings
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques for students with special education needs
- Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Familiarity with school policies, safety regulations, evacuation procedures, and confidentiality protocols
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and school staff
- Ability to handle conflict management situations calmly and professionally
- Physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges and perform safety-related tasks during transportation
