I. MISSION
Founded in 1989, Burton Enright Welch (BEW) is an independent, fee-only financial planning and investment management firm in Walnut Creek, CA with over $1 billion in assets under management.
BEW seeks an Advisor to assist Senior and Lead Advisors with financial planning and investment management for their clients. The Advisor will help execute BEW’s detailed Client Experience roadmap to understand client needs, issue spot, and identify planning opportunities. The Advisor will assist Senior and Lead Advisors in meetings and present analyses and recommendations for clients and prospective clients.
The Advisor should be eager to learn, intellectually curious, and desire a culture that promotes collaboration, initiative, and professional growth. While a well-established firm, BEW prides itself on being open to new ideas and adopting new processes and technologies.
The Advisor is not expected to bring in business. Long-term, BEW expects the Advisor to progress to a Lead Advisor, which would include leading Firm initiatives, managing Associate Advisors, participating in business development efforts, and taking more of a primary role with BEW’s new and existing relationships.
Candidates should have the CFP® designation.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Senior and Lead Advisors to support financial planning and investment management for clients. Act as the primary point of contact for some of the team’s clients.
• Develop and present financial planning and investment management strategies.
- Client communications are clear, prompt, responsive, and courteous
- Works with firm resources on client deliverables
• Program and lead meetings specific to client needs; own the execution of follow-up actions
• Lead new client onboarding, financial plan creation, and implementation process
• Support business development by working with Senior/Lead Advisors to engage prospective clients.
• Act as a subject matter expert on financial planning software and other planning topics/strategies
• Work closely with Client Services Team to ensure seamless client experience
• Follow BEW’s Client Experience and ensure delivery to core client relationships.
• Lead firm project work and contribute to the firm’s Investment Committee and Financial Planning initiatives
• Train and mentor Associate Advisors
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree
• CFP® designation
• CPA and CFA designations are also welcome.
• 4 years of experience as a client-facing financial advisor
• Leadership experience a plus
• Experience with custodial platforms (Schwab, Fidelity, etc.)
Skills and Knowledge:
• Excellent communicator (verbal, written and listening)
• Strong interpersonal skills (integrity, humility, respect, empathy)
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiples tasks and client relationships
• Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of financial planning and investment topics
• Effective at time management
• Team player who can work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Past use of CRM system
