Role Description The Heavy Equipment and Auto Appraiser is responsible for evaluating damage to vehicles and heavy equipment, preparing detailed estimates, and supporting fair claim settlements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing photos and documentation, analyzing repair costs, confirming values, and communicating findings with adjusters, carriers, repair facilities, and other stakeholders. The appraiser will complete reports using industry-standard estimating and valuation software, adhere to carrier guidelines, and maintain clear, timely documentation. This is a full-time remote role that requires consistent availability, dependable communication, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Strong appraisal and estimating skills for autos and heavy equipment, including the ability to assess damage, calculate repair or replacement costs, and determine fair values.
• Proficiency with relevant claims, estimating, and valuation software platforms, as well as general computer literacy and comfort working in a digital environment.
• Solid knowledge of insurance claims processes, industry standards, and carrier guidelines, with attention to regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining appraisal findings, collaborating with adjusters and repair facilities, and responding to inquiries professionally.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities to handle multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet turnaround expectations.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, exercise sound judgment, and maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Prior experience in auto or heavy equipment appraisal, body shop estimating, or insurance adjusting is highly beneficial.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training, certifications (e.g., I-CAR, ASE, or appraisal-related credentials), or coursework in insurance or automotive/heavy equipment fields are a plus.
