    Position Summary:
    Community Education Manager Senior Center
    • Hours: 8 hours per day
    • Days: 221 days per year
    • Compensation / Benefits: Per unit agreement

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate, plan, develop, implement, maintain and evaluate all Senior Center and Adult Programming events
    • Ensure use of best practices in enrichment programing for adults, youths and children
    • Keep up to date of changing developments, trends and educational technologies
    • Recommend program changes, goals and objectives
    • Recruit, interview, train, monitor, schedule, supervise and evaluate program instructions
    • Recruit, interview, train, monitor, schedule and supervise volunteers
    • Develop course descriptions
    • Determine classes, activities and instructor pay rates and fees for both on-site and off-site activities
    • Schedule program event rooms and classes
    • Provide Community Education with program information for their catalog
    • Explore partnerships and collaborate with community members, agencies, program and organizations to plan for future needs
    • Assess, monitor and evaluate the Burnsville Senior Center
    • Maintain information and referral services
    • Recruit, recommend, hire and retain highly qualified staff
    • Evaluate new and current staff and support ongoing professional development
    • Coordinate the production and distribution of the Chatter newsletter
    • Provide assistance to all stakeholders concerning enrichment programs, activities and services
    • Plan and facilitate meetings
    • Supervise and approve instructor and organization payments for adults and youth enrichment programs
    • Maintain accurate records
    • Evaluate class/program effectiveness and participant satisfaction
    • Develop and update program forms
    • Maintain a clean and safe environment for program participants
    • Prepare requisitions for equipment, services, salaries and fees
    • Develop and maintain relationships within the School District, outside organizations and the community
    • Market and promote enrichment activities and opportunities via the local media, institutions, organizations and agencies within the community
    • Represent the District at community events and district wide meetings
    • Develop flyers, press releases, cable programs and presentations to promote programs
    • Speak publicly on behalf of the programs
    • Create and monitor annual program budgets
    • Develop and execute fundraising activities
    • Monitor grant proposals and manage funds
    • Prepare financial, participation, evaluation and any other reports required
    • Attend meetings, in-services, and workshops as required

    Education/Certification Requirement:
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Education or related field
    • Valid MN Driver's License without restrictions

    Experience:
    • 3 years administrative experience working with policy, program development and implementation
    • 3 years budget and financial management
    • Publication development and public relations experience preferred

    • Knowledge of community resources
    • Commitment to the implementation of goals and mission of Community Education
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with others
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common field journals, financial reports and legal documents
    • Ability to present to internal and external stakeholders
    • Knowledge of bookkeeping and administrative functions
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentage, area, circumference and volume
    • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry
    • Intermediate computer skills
