Position Summary
The Cultural PSS/CRM Specialist provides peer-led support, community resource navigation, and culturally grounded engagement services to individuals and families receiving Behavioral Health support. This role blends certified peer support or community resource management functions with Tribal cultural knowledge, wellness practices, and community empowerment. The specialist serves as a mentor, advocate, motivator, and cultural connector to promote healing, wellness, and long-term recovery.
Required Certification
- Must obtain Oregon Health Authority-approved PSS or CRM certification within 3 months of hire.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed, peer-delivered support across outreach, engagement, stabilization, and continuing care.
- Assess and identify individual barriers, service gaps, and areas of limited support that may affect care outcomes, and advocate for solutions that promote stability, healing, and long-term wellness through connection to community resources, culturally grounded services, and coordinated care.
- Assist individuals in identifying personal goals, barriers, and strengths to develop wellness plans.
- Promote long-term wellness through mentorship, encouragement, and linkage to support networks.
- Provide culturally grounded activities such as talking circles, smudging, traditional crafts, and seasonal wellness activities.
- Engage Tribal Elders and cultural knowledge keepers to support services.
- Lead outreach to Tribal members, families, and community partners.
- Assist with program reporting, progress documentation, and data entry.
- Support community events, prevention activities, peer groups (Wellbriety, Recovery Lunch), and cultural wellness gatherings.
Required Qualifications & Education
- Must have a minimum of two (2) continuous years of demonstrated sobriety from alcohol and/or substances.
- Must have lived/experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery and willingness to share appropriately.
- Knowledge of Tribal community values, practices, and behavioral health systems.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Must obtain PSS or CRM certification within 3 months of hire.
- CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License and ability to operate Tribal/GSA vehicles.
Indian Preference
Indian Preference will be applied in accordance with Tribal policy. Proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe is required.
