Burns & McDonnell is considered the leading consultant in the aircraft fueling industry. We are engaged in high visibility projects at major airports and military bases worldwide. Additionally, the fueling business line executes projects for aviation, federal, transport truck and car rental clients, including marine loading facilities, pipeline terminals, truck loading facilities and commercial gasoline stations.
A successful candidate would be experienced in design and construction in one or more of the following industries: Commercial or Military Fuel Systems, Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, or Industrial Systems.
Experience in the following areas would be of high value:
$135,000.00-185,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

- Airport fuel receipt, storage, and distribution facilities
- Jet fuel hydrant distribution systems
- Pipeline and transport truck fuel receipt systems
- Jet fuel storage tanks
- Into-hydrant pumping and filtration systems
- Refueler truck loading positions
- Aircraft hydrant fuel systems
- Single and double-wall fuel piping
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards including ATA 103, API 610, API 650, API 653, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, NFPA 30, and NFPA 11
- Creation of P&IDs and mechanical system control arrangements
- Layout of equipment pad and valve manifolds
- Piping system hydraulic modeling
- Piping system stress analysis
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6 years of mechanical engineering experience required.
- EPC project experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE). Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Ability to travel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
