Description

The Regional Safety & Health Manager – North Texas Region (NTR) serves as the senior safety leader for the region, directly supporting the Regional Office (RO) and General Manager (GM). This position reports to the Regional Global Practice Leader – Construction Design-Build while maintaining close coordination with the Regional Office Manager and Corporate Safety leadership to ensure alignment with Burns & McDonnell corporate HSES programs.

This role provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure compliance with Burns & McDonnell corporate HSES programs while tailoring implementation to the operational needs of North Texas.

In addition to project and field safety oversight, this role is responsible for maintaining safety within regional office environments, leading emergency preparedness initiatives, and actively participating in the Live Safer Council to strengthen regional safety culture and alignment with corporate initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Safety Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary safety advisor to the RO and GM for the NTR.
  • Lead implementation of Burns & McDonnell corporate HSES strategy, policies, and initiatives within the region.
  • Keep regional leadership informed of corporate safety updates and required implementation actions.
  • Ensure consistency between corporate safety standards and regional/project execution.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety and other regional safety leaders to leverage best practices.
  • May provide mentorship and leadership to additional safety professionals as regional safety staffing expands.

Project & Field Safety Oversight

  • Oversee safety performance across all North Texas construction projects across multiple sectors including mission critical, aerospace and industrial, manufacturing, commercial, power transmission and distribution, transportation, and water infrastructure.
  • Support EPC Project Managers (EPC-PM) and Construction Project Managers (CPM) in establishing and implementing site-specific HSES plans.
  • Provide guidance during project mobilization to ensure proper safety setup, staffing, documentation, and compliance.
  • Conduct frequent site audits, safety observations, and compliance inspections.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Monitor safety metrics and prepare monthly reporting for regional leadership.
  • Interpret and enforce OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable Texas and Oklahoma regulations.

Preconstruction & Bid Support

  • Partner with preconstruction and operations teams during pursuit phases.
  • Develop and refine project-specific safety manuals and HSES documentation for bids.
  • Support proposal narratives related to safety performance and risk mitigation.
  • Identify safety exposures during planning and preconstruction to proactively mitigate risk.

Office Safety & Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain safety oversight within Fort Worth, Dallas, and OKC office environments.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency preparedness programs including egress planning, active shooter response protocols, severe weather preparedness, and shelter-in-place procedures.
  • Coordinate and lead periodic emergency drills and office training.
  • Partner with Facilities and Corporate Security to maintain up-to-date emergency plans.

Regional Training & Development

  • Lead overall NTR safety training strategy.
  • Develop and deliver regional safety orientations and leadership briefings.
  • Ensure Employee-Owners understand responsibilities under company safety policies.
  • Mentor and develop Safety Supervisors and Safety Technicians.
  • Coordinate OSHA and specialty training (e.g., OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER).
  • Provide or coordinate certification training for AED, First Aid, and CPR as needed to support regional safety compliance

Live Safer Council & Safety Culture Leadership

  • Maintain active presence within the Live Safer Council.
  • Support development and execution of corporate and North Texas–specific safety initiatives.
  • Promote safety ownership across both field and office environments.
  • Track and report safety culture and engagement metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in a construction field environment Required or
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Required
  • 7 years of progressive construction safety leadership experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Texas and Oklahoma safety requirements preferred.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to provide or coordinate AED, First Aid, and CPR training preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and other relevant regulations and construction safety standards.
  • This position requires driving to various locations

  • Expert user of Microsoft office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Ability to obtain 10-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course or
  • Ability to obtain 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course

This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
